Kirkhope Mountaineering is a small privately run company based in Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. We specialise in bespoke courses for individuals or small groups, in both instruction and guiding.
The courses are organised by and led by Scott Kirkhope. Raised in the Peak District and trained in the Highlands, Scott has been involved in outdoor education for over 10 years. He began his training at Ardroy OEC and Outward Bound and has worked for a number of guiding companies before setting up Kirkhope Mountaineering. He currently holds the Mountain bike leader award (MBL) and the Mountaineering Instructor certificate (MIC) and has climbed all over Britain and the Alps and is a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and the Mountain Instructors Community. Scott is the Scotland area representative for the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and is an approved mentor for both the Mountaineering Instructors award and the Mountaineering Instructors Certificate. View his Mountain Training profile here.
Scott set up Kirkhope Mountaineering to deliver high-quality instruction and to share his passion for and knowledge of the area with others.
Any guides or instructors we use will always be qualified and insured for the work they are undertaking and will be well known to Scott personally.
"I really did throughly enjoy it and have come home feeling very enthused about climbing and just want to get out there and climb! First thing I did when I got in was a buy a set of nuts, 5 snap gates, 5 quickdraws and a nut key."
Mary Saunders, Intro to rock climbing.
